Africa – Women’s Empowerment: AWiDH Celebrates Innovation and Impact
In an increasingly technology-driven world, Africa is experiencing a new wave of digital transformation in healthcare, and women are leading the way. The African Women in Digital Health (AWiDH) initiative has just announced the six winners of its prestigious mentorship program. Selected from 337 candidates from 33 countries, these pioneers are using innovation to tackle some of Africa’s most pressing health challenges.
From data-driven disease tracking to mobile applications that improve access to healthcare, digital health is transforming how care is delivered across the continent. Yet, despite women comprising 70% of the healthcare workforce in Africa, their presence in digital leadership positions remains limited. The AWiDH Mentorship Programme, now in its second year, is working to change this. The programme identifies and supports young African women developing smart, scalable, and sustainable innovations in healthcare.
